FASHION TO WEAR

For our color study's final project, we were given a task to create an outfit based on one of the five themes that had been given by our lecturer. The five themes that were given to us are PUNKY, RETRO, VINTAGE, SPORTY, and HAUTE COUTURE. Retro style is a culturally outdated style or trend, mode, or fashion, from the overall post-modern past fashion from 1940-1990. To me, retro fashion would be in bright color such as pastel or neon color, the colors that really stand out in the crowd. So I decide to make a retro skirt.

These are some of materials that I used for my retro skirt. My skirt is fully in black color so to make it looks retro, I make polka dots in deep pink light color. Therefore, my retro color scheme would be in black and deep pink light colors. Following are my progress of making retro skirt :

The shades of pink represent unconditional love and nurturing. It also shows immature, silly, and girlish; pink is feminine and romantic, thoughtful and caring. Other than that, pink calms our emotional energies, offers warmth and tenderness to peoples. On the other hands, black is the color of the hidden, secretive, unknown, powerful, and mysterious. It gives such elegant feeling into the person who wearing it. I like the combination of both colors because it looks simple, cute, and nice.

POP-UP BOOK

These are the print out for my pop up book.
These are the results. After finish doing the title and everything, I do the pop up.

FINAL PROJECT DRAWING 2

After finishing the sketches, I colored using water color. I used pink and purple color to give warm feeling. Then after the painting is dry, I do touch-up using artline pen to do the shading and to make it more attractive.

MOCK-UP FOR FINAL

This is my mock-up for our final assignment; making a pop up book. I'm planning to make a pop up book in small size. Mine would be an educational book for children. The title for my book is "What makes a Rainbow ?". Belows are the progress that I've been done for now.

SHOE

Using artline pen to create the shading. As for the shading technique, I have used the hatching, crosshatching, contour hatching, and random techniques. And this is the result.

COLOUR HARMONY AND SPLIT-COMPLEMENTARY

Color Harmony
- A nature's way of saying that two or more things together make sense.
- It represents a satisfying balance or unity of colors; pleasing to the eye.
Split-Complementary
- A variation of the complementary color scheme.
- It uses the two colors adjacent to its complement.
- Has the same strong visual contrast as the complementary color scheme but has less tension.

RENDERING SHADING TECHNIQUE

Dots / Stippling
- Use tiny dots to create value;
- The closer together the dots, the darker the tone;
- Larger dots create a denser tonal value more quickly but can looks coarse.
Scrumbling / Random
- "Brillo Pad" technique; uses layers of small calligraphic to build up value and texture;
- Various textures result depending on whether these short hatches are applied vertically, at right angles, following a contour or at random angles.
Crosshatching
- Uses layers of hatching placed at an angle;
- The first layer would be vertical, the next horizontal, the next at 45°, and so on.
Hatching
- Basic method of creating value in ink drawing;
- The closer the lines are, the less white paper shows, and the darker the value appears.
Contour Hatching
- Hatching placed at a slight angle creates a moire-like effect, the diamond-shaped fragments of white paper enlivening the denser ares of value;
- Often used in figure drawing, with the direction of line helping to suggest the cross-contours of the body;
- Hatching which follows a contour can also help to make objects appear more three-dimensional.

DEVELOPMENT PROCESS

Making our own logo, from 2D to 3D design. First, do quick sketches for the design. Then, apply shape. After that, make a box to create the 3D. After finishing the process, use artline pen to do the outline. Done !

COLOUR VALUE

Color value refers to the lightness or darkness of a color. Value becomes critical in a work which has no colors other than black or white. Every color can produce a variety of tones; how light or dark these are depends on the color.

These are the color value that we make using primary color; YELLOW, RED, BLUE. Starts with the color, we keep on adding white color to get the lightest color.

COLOUR TEMPERATURE

Color temperature describes the degree of warmth visually found in a color. Color temperature divided into two groups, warm colors and cool colors.

WARM COLOR
- A color that gives the viewer a sense of bright, warmth, energy, heat, such as the colors of the sun.
COOL COLOR
- A cool color gives a sense of calm, coolness, cold, stillness, such as the colors of the ocean.
