19TH CENTURY OF NEOCLASSICISM ARTISTS AND ARTWORK

The term Neoclassicism refers to the classical revival in European art, architecture, and interior design that lasted from the mid-eighteenth to early 19th century. This period gave rebirth to the art of ancient Rome and Greece and the Renaissance as an opposition to the ostentatious Baroque and Rococo art that preceded the movement. Although the movement spread throughout Western Europe, France and England were the countries that used the style most frequently in their arts.

Some important Neoclassical artists with their artwork :
Venus Comforting Cupid Stung by a Bee
Benjamin West (1738-1820)
The Death of General Warren at the Battle of Bunker's Hill
John Trumbull (1756-1843)
The Three Grace
Antonio Canova (1757-1822)
The Oath of the Horatii
Jacques-Louis David (1748-1824)
Cupid and Psyche
Francois Gerard (1770-1837)
Ferdinand IV, King of Naples and his Family
Angelica Kauffman (1741-1807)
